FAQs

What is the best age to start training a puppy?

1

Puppies can start learning basic commands and good habits as early as 8 weeks old. The critical socialization window closes around 16 weeks, so starting early with positive reinforcement prevents the most common behavior problems. Our certified trainers run specialized puppy kindergarten classes that make the most of this window.

How long does it take to train a dog?

2

Most dogs show clear improvement in 4–6 weeks with consistent training, while reliable off-leash obedience typically takes 3–6 months. Results depend on the dog’s age, breed, personality, and daily home practice. We customize every plan so you see fast, lasting progress tailored to your lifestyle.

What training methods do you use?

3

We use only positive reinforcement and force-free, science-based methods endorsed by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. Rewards like treats, toys, and praise build confident, happy learners while reducing fear and anxiety. No shock collars, prong collars, or punishment are ever used.

Do you offer private training or group classes?

4

Yes! We offer both. Private in-home or virtual sessions are perfect for specific behavior issues, while group classes provide socialization and basic obedience practice. Group classes suit most puppies and friendly adult dogs; private training is ideal for reactivity or aggression.

Can you help with aggression or reactivity?

5

Yes. We specialize in fear-based reactivity and leash aggression using safe, evidence-based counter-conditioning and desensitization protocols. Safety always comes first. We never force dogs into scary situations. Many dogs that owners label “aggressive” become relaxed and friendly with the right plan.

Hear From Past Clients

If you are looking for a trainer who not only trains dogs but also strengthens your relationship with your dog, this is the place. I learned so much during my training session.

I love that no shock collars or negative reinforcement are used; this training is about building trust and a relationship. Plus Ozzy loves Manuela!

My big pup was uncontrollable and dangerously strong. WE were in need of quality training. Manuela’s Canine Clubhaus was highly recommended by so many of my friends. She’s certified, she’s tough and no-nonsense, which was just what we needed.

We trained weekly for six weeks and learned about two dozen commands, not little parlor tricks, but skills that are related to safety, his and mine. The difference was night and day. He graduated, and he’s officially a VGB (very good boy). I can finally take him on walks without fear of being dragged to the pavement as before.

I HIGHLY recommend! I should also mention that she has a dedicated facility built on her property for their training.

Manuela has a wealth of knowledge about dog behavior. Why he does what he does? She showed me how to train him in a positive, fun way. When she met Atticus, he would not come when I called, messed in the house, and I had to chase him around the house to get a leash on.

No more! We are happy with him, and he is happier too. Highly recommend
